Once the burn wound has been cleaned and debrided, reassess the burn wound bed for a brisk capillary return, sensation and moisture. If you are unsure or have concerns regarding burn depth, please refer on appropriately, to the GP, ED or local Burn Bervice
Measuring burn surface area is important during the initial management of people with burns to assist in estimating fluid requirements and determining need for transfer to a burns service (22). For minor burns the %Total Body Surface area is no bigger than 10%TBSA in adults and 5%TBSA in children. Remember to exclude erythema from the %TBSA assessment.
